The Hit Box Recording Studio

Das Studio besteht seit 1978 an verschiedenen Adressen. Am Anfang waren es vier Spuren, gefolgt von einer Otari 1" 8_Spur, danach, 1989, nahm Österreichs erstes HD-Aufnahmesystem seinen Betrieb auf und heute läuft alles, wie üblich, voll digital im Computer. Die analogen Geräte sind immer noch im Einsatz für besondere Klänge in unserer digitalen Welt. Die MIDI-Steuerung erfolgt nach all den Jahren immer noch über einen Atari (nicht umzubringen), der eine Vielzahl von Keyboards kontrolliert, darunter Schätze wie KORG MS-20, MOOG Prodigy, Polysix und Poly-61, Lamda, JX-8P, Matrix 1000, TS-10, Proteus 1,2,3, sogar ein Logan, wie auch noch weitere Kisten, die alle noch gut funktionieren.
Der Kontrollraum dient hauptsächlich für Erstellung von Film-Sound Design, Filmmusik und Remixes. Die riesigen 4430 JBLs liefern ein perfektes Monitoring, dazu gibt es etwas kleinere 4311Bs oder die kleinen AKG Würfel (Auratones). Für Sound Design steht ein 5.1 System zur Verfügung. Immer noch wird ein Mischpult verwendet, wie in den "alten Tagen". Das Studio ist spezialisiert für Aufnahmen akustischer Instrumente der World- und Folk-Musik, aber auch für Elektronik Ambience und Minimal Musik.

The studio exists since 1978 in different locations. It had started with four tracks, followed by an Otari 1" 8-track machine and after offering Austria's first movie-sync HD-recording system in 1989 today it works totally computerized. The analog equipment still is in good shape and used for special sound results in our digital world. MIDI control after all these years is still available via an Atari (can't kill a workhorse), managing a bunch of keyboards. Oldies as KORG MS-20, MOOG Prodigy, Polysix and Poly-61, Lamda, JX-8P, Matrix 1000, TS-10, Proteus 1,2,3, even a Logan and some more are still up and running.
The control room is mainly in use for movie sound designs, score music production and remixes. The huge 4430 JBLs stand for perfect monitoring, supported by smaller 4311Bs and small AKG cubes (Auratones), 5.1 monitoring is used for sound designs. A mixing console is in use and always will be due to old-day's experience. This place is specialized in acoustic instruments recording for world or folk music, but also electronic ambience and minimal music.
